THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) announced the creation of a hotline for reporting crime tips and criminal activity in HUD-funded housing. To submit a tip to the crime hotline, call 1-800-347-3735 or submit reports online at hudoig.gov/hotline.
The hotline is the primary means for submitting allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, mismanagement, or whistleblower-related matters within HUD and HUD-funded programs to the Office of Inspector General (OIG).
HUD OIG accepts reports of fraud, waste, abuse, or mismanagement in HUD or HUD-funded programs from HUD employees, contractors, and the public. HUD OIG does not investigate routine or administrative complaints that should be reported to HUD program staff, local administrators or other agencies. The OIG also does not provide program information or become involved in day-to-day program administration.
The hotline is part of the broader cross-agency efforts to facilitate coordination between HUD, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other partner agencies.
